The Lorca family spent summers here from 1926, and Federico wrote a great deal of his best known work in the house. His desk, his piano and the furnishings are largely as they were.
⚠️ Lorca was murdered near Granada in 1936, at the start of the Spanish Civil War. His body has never been found. The house does not avoid this and neither does this site.
The orchards the house sat in are gone — it is now surrounded by a city park, which changes the feeling of the place considerably.
Our tip
The house is small and the visit is short. Combine it with the park rather than making a special trip.
