Bib-Rambla has been the city's public space for centuries — market, ceremony and, at less happy points in its history, the site of public punishments. Today it is flower stalls, cafés and a fountain with figures carrying the basin.
⭐ It is the obvious place to sit down in the middle of the day, and it is where the churros come from — the stands here serve them with chocolate all morning.
The buildings around it are painted in the reds and ochres that were once standard across the centre.
Our tip
Sit on the north side in the morning and the south side in the evening, and follow the shade.
